For this book, photographer Si Jubb spent the summer of 2022 making numerous visits to Swanage beach to document a season of Professor Joe Burns' Punch and Judy show, which has been entertaining crowds in the town for over a century. 

With only three remaining semi-permanent booths in the world, Si Jubb thought it was important to capture this centuries-old art form before it is possibly lost forever. 

With all photographs taken from real live shows, along with views from inside the booth and life on the sands, this work shows the colour and vibrancy of this British seaside tradition – from the booth's construction on an early July morning, through the summer's performances, to an afternoon in September when the brightly painted pieces and puppets are put away, in hope that they will return the following year.
